The field notes

What it is this red thing by my wallet you may wonder. Well, I decided to keep a notes of things I am doing. Log things.

Why a notebook, paper, what it is wrong with you?! Don’t you have a cell phone already, can’t you use that?

I have few issues with me, I have an addiction to food for example, ironic isn’t it, that this blog features cooking and recipes. Well I love food but sometimes I binge, not particularly because I am eating nice things, binges occur when my mind is playing tricks on me, it has to do more with emotional problems and anxiety, and happen with what ever I can find to eat. Of course my body was not agreeing with this.

Even though there are many options, and apps that can help you with your issues ( I am/was using FatSecret to log calories, it help me incredibly with the weight loss, more about this in another post ) there is no way to log a binge without losing your mind. It is not about how many calories you have eaten, it is about having a record that your were bad once, and you need to keep under control how many times you are bad.

Food addiction can be a tricky thing, ask yourself, how successful can you be overcoming the issue if you have to have a little bit of it every day?

Back on point, not only this notebook will help me with my issues, let me explain why:

I may log issues, also I want something to log exercise, keep todo lists, supermarket lists, recipes, ideas, schematics for electronics, anything I should not forget. Finding single app for this, good luck.

The input on normal cell phones suck. You cannot draw with your thick fingers, or type fast without a keyboard. You may need separate apps for both things, and even if there are apps that combine all these things, you are doomed anyway. (miss you N900, you were slow but awesome with your resistive screen, stylus and hardware keyboard)

I almost guarantee you, that every single app will suck at browsing the different pages of your content. This mainly occurs because a cell phone screen realstate it is already crowded, the only way to make this fast is to have the diligence of classify your data, and for me that in this case is a deal breaker. Nothing beats the speed you can have browsing though pages of a physical notebook.

It will be a great complement for this blog.

There is some novelty on having to use a pen (or pencil that it is more reliable, I am seriously contemplating this) to write things, but this may be just me.

Wow!, 465 words, this is the longest post ever!.
