Cider on the cheap

Wanna do cider on the cheap, developed this recipe with readily available supermarket ingredients in NZ. We use a pasteurized, preservative free apple juice, that is comes with stevia and will carry on sweetness after fermentation. It costs around NZD20 per the ~10L when juice is on special.

For around 10 L of cider:

  • 9.6 liters of 50% sugar Keri Apple juice
  • 500g of dextrose
  • nutrient per the specs
  • 10g of champagne yeast,

        After fermentation:

  • Sweetening:
    • 1g of aspartame or your choice of sweetener
  • Fining: 10 g of bentonite. Could need a second batch
  • Flavorings
    • Pear: 6ml of LorAnn Oils Pear
